2015-13 - Another point of view...

Once Pablo Valle was in Japan for taking English classes. Winter was fast approaching and as it happens during the change of seasons, many people were contracting cold and flu.

On a cold morning, a Japanese student walked into his class, her mouth covered wearing a surgical mask. Pablo thought, "Wow, people would go to extremes not to get sick in this country."

An hour later, during a short break, he approached her. "Why the mask?" he asked. "Are you so afraid of catching cold?"

"Not quite," she said. "In Japan you use it when you are under the weather & you don't want other people to get sick. It is the polite thing to do."

Pablo was as embarrassed as stunned and called this a lesson he would never forget.
